Professional Biography

Marla is a seasoned family law trial attorney with extensive courtroom experience and a reputation as a strong and strategic advocate. Having tried more than 100 jury trials and handled countless evidentiary hearings and non-jury proceedings, she brings substantial litigation experience to complex domestic matters while maintaining a thoughtful and client-focused approach.

Marla’s practice is devoted to family law and includes matters involving dissolution of marriage, post-dissolution enforcement proceedings, post-judgment modifications of alimony, child support and timesharing, paternity actions, child custody and time-sharing disputes, and temporary and permanent restraining orders. She also advises clients in the preparation and negotiation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Her approach emphasizes readiness for trial while also positioning clients for favorable negotiated resolutions whenever possible.

She believes that effective family law representation requires both strong advocacy and careful guidance through emotionally difficult circumstances. Marla works closely with clients through consistent communication and a step-by-step approach designed to provide clarity and confidence throughout the legal process.

Before focusing exclusively on family law, Marla began her career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in Broward County, Florida, where she prosecuted a broad range of cases, including DUI offenses, drug-related crimes, domestic violence matters, and serious felonies. She later joined a boutique criminal defense and family law firm, where she discovered her passion for family law and ultimately went on to found her own practice.

In addition to her legal practice, Marla serves as an Adjunct Professor at St. Thomas University School of Law, her alma mater. She has also appeared on FOX News, HLN, and truTV as a legal commentator on national legal news stories.
